While allowing Absolute Poker’s client to auto-update to a new version, my NOD32 antivirus quarantined the file mainclient.exe as a possible Win32/Genetik trojan.
Can someone check into this? I’ve never had an alert from NOD32, so it is not usually prone to false alarms.

NOD32 alerts almost at every casino program downloads, I have searched for it and it is a known false positive alert at NOD32 side, unfortunately they don’t want to do anything about it. Of course the downloadables are not trojans, just imagine how many players we lose just because of these stupid false alerts…

I guess I’ll trust this is a false alarm and proceed.

Some casino software can contain spyware, but most of the time that is not the software but NOD32. All of the casinos successfully install with using other virus protection tools and without any warning. (Norton, AVG, etc).

You are welcome I hope they help!
November 17, 2008 at 6:31 pm #787238fronkeeMemberOur mainclient.exe is, obviously, malware free. Scanners with comprehensive heuristics sometimes return false positives. John from our development team ran the mainclient.exe through a site that uses multiple antivirus scanners to scan a certain file that you upload. The site can be found at: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
Out of all the antivirus software, only NOD32 returned the result stating that it was a “probable variant”. Cases like these show that you can’t rely on a single antivirus software.
I hope this helps,
Marce
