InactiveI read this yesterday and can’t say I was surprised. This is going to kill FB’s earnings.

bobkogonMemberI’ve made a test campaign on Facebook but it was a total failure. Not one single signup.

Facebook has lost about 40% of its stock value since it launched. Its trading just over $21 a share, from its $38 IPO price.
Its only going to get worse..
Quote:About 268 million shares will be released in mid-August, an additional 192 million shares in mid-October and the largest slug — more than 1.2 billion shares — in mid-November.Though most of those shares will not be sold, the new supply still will dwarf the 421.2 million the company sold in the IPO.”
Quote:That has left some investors unwilling to buy before the lock-ups expire because they fear that the venture capital and other insiders will dump shares without regard for the effect on other investors.“I think Facebook is going to be a mess until the lock-ups are done,” said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities. “Nobody trusts their shareholders, the insiders, the VCs and the way they behaved in the IPO — greedily.”

gerelasMemberCAP found this story to be pretty interesting, too.
Most Facebook Visitors Are Really Bots
Definitely not surprising, but it definitely makes you re-think your Facebook strategy.

InactiveI’m wondering why it would have taken anyone so long to work this out.
Because – we even count clicks from Google Adword buys for our Binary Option Brands.
I can live with a 5% variance, even 10%. But 80% !
Wonder how many other companies have noticed this as well? And I am wondering if it happens across the board, or only to small traffic buys (bigger the buy the more you would monitor it?)

bosshoggsMemberRak… you are totally right on this… and this story is making some serious waves…
Especially because Facebook just closed their Q2 numbers claiming $1.18 billion in revenue, with $992 million of that generated via advertising. YIKES.
80% is extraordinary. I can’t even wrap my head around that… So, so, so wrong.
We dug up some more details on this here: Facebook PPC Traffic is Mostly Bots
What do you think the online marketing industry should expect with this evolving story?

84% of their revenue comes from advertising
12% from zyngaand 4% from here and there (sale of information to government agencies)
Facebooks auto face detection software is fast.. and amazing – its quite scary. Especially since they bought instagram for a billion dollars.
