InactiveI would also be curious as to what the more experienced people thank about this.
So instead of an answer I will give it a bump.

InactiveThe domain name doesn’t really do much for you in Google. I’m sure it helps out a tiny bit, but when it comes to natural ranking, it’s the links to your site that determine your position much more than your on-page factors. I don’t think you will see a difference either way you go.
For example, do a search for “online casino” (without the quotes) on Google and you will notice that not that many sites come up with the words “online casino” in their URL. I count only 2 in the top 10 results.
One thing you should probably avoid is having multiple dashes (-) in a domain. I know it isn’t in your example, but is a popular way to go these days and I’ve heard Matt Cutts (Google engineer) alude to their spammy nature. This is speculation, but it seems very easy for Google to write a simple line of code to hurt any site that has multiple dashes in it.

InactiveThe fad for having a “keyword” in your domain name seems to continue but as has been mentioned above I don’t see any real benefit.
Far better in my opinion to get a memorable name that can be searched for or typed in.
In my empirical testing :
GambingInfoSource.com remains a dustbowl .. SE traffic close to zero.
GoonersGuide.com continues to grow from strength to strength .. SE traffic 200-300 per day.
Oh …For the uninitated … a Gooner is a term for an fan of Arsenal football club.
We call ourselves the Gunners but the North London accent turns it into Gooners. And it’s stuck. As I’m an Arsenal fan, and I write about European football in the main – this is a perfect (and memorable) name for the site.
Type Gooner or Gooners into any major search engine and you should find me on the first page.

That said…Bolton away :whatsthatAnyway, regarding the domain name, i agree. Go for something memorable. Admittedly i spend more time on it, but my OGGS.com domain gets the main traffic in my portfolio. More importantly, it gets the highest % of repeat traffic too – Around 18-20%.

Hi Simmo!
I don’t mock Spurs or Spurs fans mate …
(happy for them to do it to themselves …)
:hehe:As for Bolton … well we won there last season in the Cup and went on to claim the trophy so perhaps it’s a good omen.
Certainly Arsenal will be up for the match after losing 0-2 in the League earlier this season.
:fencing:Should be a good ‘un .. and I expect the boys to come out of it OK …
