The report on this story by ‘The Sun’ contained the following quite which I found really annoying:

“When you have won a fair amount of money you can’t easily get it back. They don’t let you withdraw without making a public display, so you carry on playing.”

Does anybody know of any Book out there that demands publicity activities, against the will of the customer, before allowing a withdrawal?

The sun newspaper tends to over exagerate to the point of lying just to sell papers. There probably was one sportsbook back in the day that asked a player to do publicity for them and this resulted in all books being listed as the same and using these scare techniques.

Gambling is a problem for some and they should seek help before it gets so bad. Chasing a dollar is never a good idea in gambling.

LOL so true. No-one believes what they read in there anyway. Online gambling is more accessible, but at the end of the day an addicted gambler will find a way to bet, and these losses would probably still have amounted to the same at a bookmakers over time. May have taken longer to get there, but get there he would.

Hopefully the whole idea of regulation in our industry will mean a much larger sum goes back towards helping addiction that would otherwise have done.
