I disagree and I will explain why. First I will address the one page crappy sites, which redirect to a landing page of a casino that affiliate is promoting, or a one page site with a couple of casinos listed.

It is obvious that blackhats are still finding that using software like xRumer and the like still works in the short term. Otherwise why would this crap still pop up in the top of the serps for the big keywords.

These sites will get slammed by google and will be short lived. However, the person behind this obviously has a lot of throwaway domains ( I believe it is an individual who the casinos who he/she is promoting is known by the operators in question, thus they are condoning his/her activities ).

I have studied the backlinks of one such domain registered on the 13th May and it is full of spammy forum profile backlinks, comment links on unrelated blogs and the such like. Thus proving that old blackhat tactics of the past are still working and alive circa Penguin and Panda. At least in the short term.

Now on to your next point. Ok, so AskGamblers and CasinoListings may have got hit. Does this signal the end of the affiliate industry in iGaming? Christ no!

Listen, anyone that buys links or participates in convoluted link schemes to game google regardless of their content deserves to be hit.

The way google is going is to reward good content and also a clean and natural backlink profile which people as webmasters want to reference as a good resource.

My best site in terms of traffic is clean, I have never bought a single link, never engaged in link exchanges and has good sticky content. Traffic has gone up. Some of my other sites, which I have bought links for in the past or engaged in link exchanges have gone down.

If anything these updates from google are aiming to make it a level playing field for everyone, thus long term good content which attracts natural references and links will rise to the top. Those trying to game google will ultimately get slammed and that IMO is a good thing.
