The biggest problem I have with this industry is the fact that programs get away with shaving affiliates and to top it all the culprits aren’t brought to book. It’s just a vicious cycle that goes on and on.

The gaming industry foundations grew from family connections. These insidious bonds have remained unchanged and unchallenged since day one. Start viewing it as a ‘Gambling Cartel’ and these connotations pretty much sum up the status quo of the industry, to varying degrees.

Conflicts of interest are riff. The alliances from too many fingers in too many pies, flourish in an environment like this. It’s a well oiled machine which takes on similarities to a regimental doctrine. Monopoly is not just a board game but a driving force which powers this industry.

Take a wander around some of the self proclaiming affiliate associations and player protection sites, compare their self righteous catch cries to their actions and you’ll see clear bias shown. Selling out affiliates and players for their own greedy ends. Essentially the talk doesn’t fit the walk.

If your in the clique, your protected. If not and you speak out against anything underhanded etc etc, your labeled the ‘Bad Guy’. Your dragged through the mud and your character is assassinated by fabrications and half baked truths. If you still refuse to roll over and shut up, your ostracized; banned from forums etc etc. Effectively closed down and silenced.

This creature has many far reaching testicles.

If you were around when SlyCin (Cindy) owned the GPWA or later, when the GPWA/CAP war was going on, and you have smarts, you’ll understand what I mean by this ;)

This industry has various conferences every year where they nominate the best affiliate programs, managers, affiliates etc. Why don’t they also name those programs and their owners that screwed affiliates over? I’m not saying this is going to solve the problem but it’s already a step in the right direction.

This would be the correct course of action. Sadly though, it will never happen.

While the USA regulations to online gaming are still in process, for me, it will be a a bitter sweet victory when their doors finally open. Albeit it will probably ruin my business, but at least I can rest knowing, the USA industry will be held up to rigid accountability, regardless of status.

PS Online gaming as we know it now, could have developed and grown into a well respected, self governing and regulated industry. There would have been plenty to go around. But as always, greed has f#cked it up. As a result its been red flagged!
