The problem here is : a lot of what McAfee Site Advisor and Norton’s equivalent program do is potentially libelous. This is, of course, testable in a court of law.
However, for our industry, it’s tricky. These companies want to be seen as ‘protecting the comsumer’ but they’re never going to red flag Ladbrokes or William Hill or someone..because those are companies that will wipe the floor with them and are clearly running legal businesses under UK and European law.
So, instead, they justify their existence by ‘red flagging’ major affiliate players in the industry and offshore sportsbooks they know aren’t in a position to win a court case.
It’s all about Norton and McAfee convincing people that their product has a value it actually doesn’t have.
