The best and most useful debate would, of course, come about if the board had more than one resident SEO expert.
In an ideal world, there would be three or four resident SEO experts, all contributing to the debate and discussion over issues relating on how to get high up in the search results.
Anyone that went to the CAP Euro SEO panel will have seen this in action. There was some great debate and some real disagreement on what was right or wrong in SEO. It was simply not possible for one individual expert to dominate, or pretend to have the absolute knowledge, when in fact what they were saying was controversial or potentially untrue. The combination of the experts’ knowledge and experience created superb, useful, debate.
So why not get a few SEOs in to moderate and contribute to the discussion?
Is it possible?
Or, are their egos so huge that they won’t join and debate with each other on a board?
Or perhaps CAP are having to pay them and it would be too costly?
Just a thought…
