Gary,
We met and chatted and I would like to think it was friendly.
I don’t think that Yvette and Sam deserve and blame here. I have spent time with both and they are truly awesome people.
Both of them were in the same situation as us, they didn’t know who was who so contacting people was difficult.
I am in NO WAY defending the CAP ownership and management – I feel they did a horrific job in both organizing this event and communicating things to affs, aff managers and operaters.
It may seem that Yvette and Sam were brought in at the last minute for damage control and perhaps this notion is correct, but they also made the best of a crappy situation so I consider them to be in the same “boat” that the rest of us are.
There have been a few posts where people have mentioned that CAP might do well by compensating attendees for the hotel costs. If it was my company I would do so.
Moving forward, if CAP wants to serve its members I would hope that they choose venues more suitable for the masses, not overpriced hotels, and have an ownership/management presence.
Yvette and Sam are great. The event was not.
CAP management and ownership should be ashamed, the people that attended should be honored for making the best of a shit situation.
