I loved it, but as usual I am exhausted. I had so many meetings I literally lost count and I came away with a ton of new business.
My favorite part though is seeing old friends and making new ones. To me its really important to meet with people who actually understand what we do. It’s so frustrating, and sometimes lonely, the rest of the year as most “civilians” around us really dont know what to make of us.
Most believe we are doing something shady, or we are lazy and refuse to get “real jobs” and just lounge around all day and “play” on our computers. You get this crap from friends, neighbors and relatives alike.
Then at a CAP event you are suddenly surrounded by people just like you. People who get it. They KNOW how challenging being an affiliate is and the work involved to achieve even moderate success. They understand the sacrifices made and endless hours spent glued to a computer screen while our families are at the movies, mall or watching tv together.
The emotional reinforcement that we are NOTalone and that there are thousands of people who share the same common experience is very comforting to me.
Lastly the parties, great dinners and alcohol dont hurt either. I always look forward to the next CAP event when we can do it all again.
