Work from home works for me, as a empty nest house, my wife respects my time “at work” and we reserve our chit chat for my break times, I try to get up every hour or two and walk around the house or to the mailbox (not to check the mail, but to get some exersise)
We are planning on moving soon and in the new set up I will assume a bedroom as my office so as not to be in the main living area. I would prefer not being in an office as I can jump online when I get up and read some mail before the coffee is done brewing.
