THe other thing it could be is a determined player woh is getting failed downloads and is retrying … (so 1 “click” means and average of 6 download attempts?).
Or else a Google bot has visited their site via you link and has followed all of the “download now” links. You know how spiders foloow every path.
I suspect that it’s the latter option – and you’ve simply got a trapped bot.
