Re. (1) above, I hate “hard sell” with a passion. All that crap about “getting rich”, “higher placement” and “sending us lots of players”….click, click, delete.
Re (2) above, and perhaps strangely, unless it’s an affiliate manager I know well from conferences, dinner (whatever) I generally prefer communications from affiliate programs that are “bulk” emails about stuff happening, news, promos, ideas etc. That way there’s no pressure, personal replies aren’t required to every email etc etc.
As for (3), no way! No-one denies money is a useful commodity, but when they are that desperate you just know where you lie in the food chain. The current situation with 888 sums it up nicely.
PS. Not quite OT but I agree strongly with GamTrak. Bonuses are the scourge of this industry, although the industry only has itself to blame.
