This is a big deal. It is very possible that the doj will use the settlent to fund cases against other companies, maybe private ones now. It also validates the “illegal” question surrounding the industry. Paypal rolling over for 12 million is one thing, but Party and 1 billion is a problem. Just that fact that companies are willing to go down without a fight will make them an easy target. There is still no law in place that has any teeth but it has been proven in the past that once the DOJ makes it known that a site is being targeted, the site folds.
This is bad all the way around, I can’t find any good in this.
