Going back to your computer from far away always seems risky or too high tech for some. However for the people using Mac out there the new OS Leopard has a great feature that’s included in the Only version of the OS. It’s called “Back to my Mac” and what it does is if you have a laptop you take with you and you wish to get files off your desktop at home you can access all the files as long as they both are running Leopard. The cool thing is the home computer can even be turned off, and in addition to that you can access any other Mac running leopard in the world and remotely access it just like your at the terminal (with permission), I have used this many times and its great when you need larger files because you see both screens and you can drag and drop the files from 1 to another.
Also for using multiple email addresses in one program like Trillian does a great new program out there is called Adium it is very streamlined and allows you to see your contacts in 1 list from MSN, ICQ, .Mac, Gmail, Yahoo and any other AIM.
