It does seem that this was just a rookie mistake made by an affiliate trainee. He mentioned that while they have at times included info they feel might be relevant to affiliates it is always along the lines of “check out the new banners we’ve added” or “check out our latest marketing tools.” It’s absolutely against policy to send out 3rd party links like that and if this guy had followed procedures and sought approval from his manager this never would have occurred.
This guy was severely reprimanded and that this isn’t something that will happen again. Safe to say I wouldn’t want to be that guy!
