Jared,

What some programs seem to find hard to grasp is that these contracts are not about personalities or beliefs. It doesn’t matter if you are the most honest and fair and lenient person in the business. What matters is what’s in black and white. The fact that you changed the terms and conditions without notification because you wanted to avoid a scene indicates you knew what you were doing was wrong. And while I agree the way you’re handling it seems fair, that’s not the issue. You will not be there for a ‘lifetime’. Your replacement may not agree with the way you did things. If we don’t contest this, what’s to stop him from changing it again? Nothing.

This is not about who’s a bad guy or a fair guy or an honest guy. This is about a contract; an agreement between two parties that can not be changed at the whim of either party.

This is the second change in terms and conditions brought to our attention (ty Dave) by programs that affiliates really like and respect. So what happens when one of the companies that are not as highly thought of does the same thing? If we let two programs do it, how can we now demand the third less reputable company change back? We’ve set a precedence.

This is not something that can be negotiated. Change it back, retro it, whatever, but make it right. :terms:
