Instead of trying to remodel a well working community, why don’t you start a site that lets affiliates rank programs?

That seems to be what you want to see.

Or do you want to dictate who thinks what of which program?

We never agree on these things here. What converts for you may not convert for the next guy. A payment system that is useful for you may be the pits for the next guy. We have huge threads arguing pros and cons of programs and systems. Do you want to step in and judge who is right and who is wrong?

Take CPA. Are you going to judge who is fraudulent, the affiliate or the program? Will you “degrade” a program that decides to tighten CPA rules? Or, since CPA has been a matter of dispute and abuse for years, will you ban programs that offer it?

Decide who is number one? Number one is the community. It consists of webmasters and affiliate programs. We are marketing partners. We need to work together, not against each other. You see this as two opposing camps? You want to pitch business partners against each other?

In my view, that is not the function of CAP. The purpose of CAP is education about the affiliate industry, exchange of experiences and ideas, facilitation of communication between affiliates and programs, mutual support and problem resolution.

CAP does extremely well on all these levels, and if it didn’t I surely would not have donated my time to it for all these years.
