I am still digesting the recent events so bare with me for a moment. People invest in Google for what? because it is the biggest and according to some the best. The best at what? people can find virtually anything on Google.

with respects – i believe that’s why people use google – people invest in google because it’s a highly successful business with market dominance + growth prospects.

Now theoritically if Google starts decreasing its’ search results people will end up going elsewhere. Therefore this would decrease the value of Google. This provides a perfect opportunity for say ask.com too jump right in and take over the number one spot if Google continues on censoring.

The possible outcome could very well be Google could face some harsh stock devaluation for taking any action. So in theory Google could blow itself off.

Also if the investors where so concernned about the moral stance of Google why do we still find offensive sites. Investors want Google to remain number one regardless of the content it provides.

There will always be a SE to replace Google’s dominance. Just a thought at the moment there are many things I am looking over.

all fine if you assume that:

A) google is the only SE the US government is going to get to filter out gambling content

B) gambling users are such a large proportion of internet traffic that it will signifcantly damage google’s user base.

C) investors care more about the day to day operations at google then the share price & the company’s profitability

again i wish i could agree with you – but i think it’s VERY WISHFUL THINKING
