Not carrying over negative balances isn’t an easy decision, and can be a risk. It’s not an easy decision…
In case of chargebacks, as other program managers said, the problem is different, and I agree that something must be done. I’m mostly referring to negative balance due to winnings, not all other cases.
In my business I pay to people that work for me, whether I loose or win money in that month. If I pay them only when I win, they quit working.
The same goes for affiliate programs. If they work, and month after month the negative balance is there, they just move to another program. That isn’t good for you.
So, I accept any worse month, and keep in mind the overall business.
Sometimes I loose money 3 or 4 months in a row, just investing in my business, but I will then have other months of winnings.
Of course this must be carefully managed, or we aren’t successful, and we, as affiliates wish the best success to the programs we work with.
