Well, I fully understand it and can’t really argue with that. On another hand, script I’m using has just been used successfully by at least 2 similar events in IM that I personally know off. Person who provided me with it, during conversation mentioned that he has installed it for more then 10 events in last few months. While it doesn’t guarantee a security by any means, as no script ever does, it is of some assurance. I have taken steps to set as restrictive permissions on server side as possible.
Second option for any potential JV partner is to use an email for registration that was specifically created for this event, for example gmail or yahoo, options are many. I have no intentions of swamping anyone with emails, except provide important announcements related to event. After event is completed – database will be cleaned up and all members deleted. I have also created a JV blog to support this event and address any issues and concerns as they arise.
I have done as much as I could to ensure success but obviously can’t provide a 100% guarantee and any author of any script that does it – will only be misleading. I do appreciate voicing all concerns as hopefully it will allow other people to evaluate the options and weigh the benefits against potential risks, that exist with any internet based program, and the one I’m using is no exception.
