I’m not so sure on this one…
I don’t think Search Engines can really place a strong penalty on duplicate content.
With so many sites now offering news feeds and press releases that are going to be all the same content this would severely disadvantage those sites.
Example…
PR 5 http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2004/10/28/yes/
PR 6 https://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?show=Hardcover:Sale:1572437413:10.98 This page uses much of the same content. Just doctored a little.
Of course PR relies on many other factors but the PR 6 Site does not seem to be penalized in anyway I can see for having the same content.
I guess to be on the side of caution you might want to edit the content a little… you may just want to check the programs T & Cs on this or ask your affiliate manager before modifying press releases or promotions.
I personally would not have a problem using content provided by programs… even if it is the same.
