I redid my first website back in January after it was built on a do-it-yourself template since Aug 2005. I kept almost all of the original content and basically just changed the names of the pages, etc. Even with 301 redirects from the old pages my website was re-sandboxed by google and is now just getting out of it. You should look into how to avoid something like this so google doesnt treat your re-done website as a brand new website..
