The bill was for horse racing. It’s nothing new really. They just want to amend the law, which already allowed for telephone accounts for NY tracks to include the Internet and cell phones.
Also, Federal Law trumps state law. So even if NY decided to pass a law permitting Internet Gambling across the board, it would be shut down by federal law. We can argue semantics, but it’s already technically illegal to gamble online.
I would be interested to know how much money Ebay/Paypal is throwing around for “contributions” to get H.R. 4777 through the tunnels.
I am disgusted with Washington’s (state) stance. Since U.W. is one of the law schools on my list for next year, I have to make sure to move all my gambling items into a relatives name. :phone:
