Hi,
I’m with you Int, I was very pleased to see majority of votes whether for or against gambling, said it should not be made illegal for the obvious logical reasons.
its a sad and true fact that there are a percentage of people who succumb to the evils of overindulgence and I don’t even argue the fact that some are predispositioned to fall victim,…
but its a slippery slope and so where do you draw the line? tell people they can’t gamble, eat foods that are destined to kill them surely as you’re reading this,… smoke,…
there are a hell of a lot of vices, hobbies and for that matter …. legal jobs which are a much bigger threat to the people involved than is gambling even to those known to become addicts. At least going broke doesn’t kill you.
Following the govt’s line of thinking of being able to tell us what we can and can’t do (for our own good – man it pisses me to write that; the b#strds!) with our own property, time and/or money then all jobs which are well known to have a dangerous edge to them should be outlawed. After all, is not losing your husband to death by job accident not more tramatic to a family than losing their house because dad fell behind on the mortgage?
… I realize that’s not a perfect analagy but it makes the point well enough.
where is the line drawn? why is it okay to force their will upon me for one thing that is considered bad … (for a small % of the people) when its not right to then say … make it illegal to go mountain climbing without ropes or safety devices like some of those idiots do (no offense meant to any rock climbers reading this: …. I’m sure you’re the exception that proves the rule :hattip: :colgate: )
but you get what I’m saying. Or to go out into the desert without any water …. not illegal. Just stupid!
the whole thing is a bad taste in my mouth and makes me absolutely want to spit on these hypocrytes that want to impose their will and values on me in the privacy of my own damn bedroom for pete’s sake!
