I think it’s a really great idea, and I would use it – however I think most “older” webmasters here either use some sort of program already or only do quality link exchanges manually.
Again I think it would be a great tool for new webmasters and new sites – but you have to decide if it is worth your while to develop…I had similar thoughts a few months ago, but decided it just wasn’t worth it.
If you choose to work on it you might be able to get a few ideas from xhttp://www.tartools.com/ (they just evaluate PR and outgoing links)
As to tournaments it is more complicated than you could imagine. I looked into it when we were working on the poker tournament feed. Most casinos don’t list their blackjack tournaments etc. anywhere except within their own application, which means you either have to get the data from the casino themselves (this is off course an option since you already have contacts at most of the casinos)
– or extract them from the application itself…extracting dynamic data from a foreign application isn’t that difficult, but if you need to do it to 20-50 casinos…extract it, systematize it and provide…well that a hell of a job. And then every time an application is updated you need to redo the extraction…
