nothing personal here.
It is very difficult to prove or disprove the existance of program generated/run portals. And there are many ways to skin a cat – so to speak.
I should have probably not posted in this thread but started a new one, since I am speaking in general and not necessarily about your program. But the subject came up…
The concern is real – very real. There are some programs of which I know this for sure – and I have heard of a variety of methods to accomplish this also.
If you don’t have any portals of your own, however cloaked, you shouldn’t worry. If nothing else I am a very fair person.
But I do think it is time that affiliates took some action to combat this trend.
In this industry, the programs get lots of affiliates promoting them and only have to pay those who succeed while they get all that branding from others for free. They also openly compete in the SERPS, PPCs and other advertising venues with their own affiliates. That is bad enough.
Building or acquiring portals to intensify the competition with their own affiliates to me is about the last straw.
However, I have no first hand knowledge that you in specific are doing that – I do with others.
So I apologize for the location of my post – but not it’s content.
Perhaps if you were a more visible part of the community these sort of posts would not occur – there may be less speculation about you going on.
