I am a bit surprised. I thought Kerry would make it. I thought more people would oppose a senseless war.
Kerry is to speak an hour from now – or one of his people is.
Unfortunately a lot of people voted for local issues but withheld the vote for president. That is never a good idea.
It is bad news all around – but I do not think that it will affect our industry all that much. We will just have to play the same stupid games another four years. We have survived years of attempts to pass a law against online gaming – the good people who have supressed these laws year after year through expensive lobbying will continue to do so.
Unfortunately this means one thing – 4 more years of the same.
But perhaps as far as our industry is concerned – there are a lot of very smart people working on solutions. The recent vote in the UK is very good news for us – doubtlessly some US politicians will continue to pursue the matter of regulation.
Overall our industry has made some progress this year – the Casino City lawsuit and the discussions of regulation are very positive steps.
While the Casino City suit will be stalled over and over again, it is pretty much guaranteed to win. It will likely take a year to do so.
Discussion of regulation has started, and will doubtlessly be spurred on by the UK decision.
So, all is not lost – quite the opposite. It is just more of an uphill battle.
