AVG anti-virus is a decent program that has a free (not trial) version, as well as various paid versions. I’ve seen it clean viruses that Norton’s wouldn’t. http://www.grisoft.com
Zone Alarm is a good software-based firewall, and ad-aware is great for removing spyware.
