If you can invent a better way Ill invest heavily in you! Interesting show they had years ago that talked about the early startups like yahoo, google and amazon. before google yahoo was a site that was just a simple list of links to sites the guys likes that started it, as they were trying to get a better way to bet on basketball they made a list of websites that could help them, then shared it as Yahoo! then google was the first to look at a way to judge sites by using anchor text and links, hence billions in earnings as now there was a true “search”
Wish I could remember the shows name, they did one history of a site for each show
I posted a thread yesterday about how I decided to add google plus and because of a company name they wer going to shut down all my google products. For a name, its getting ridiculous all gone to their head.
I hope a new competitor comes in the market soon.

Deep thoughts rmeeuswen… And so many valid points. I agree with allfreechips… if you can find a better way, count me in! I would absolutely invest in you.
It’s pretty obvious that Google is trying to take over the online world… What would a competitor have to do to hedge them out of the picture?

Well you never no, I mean years ago you would have thought nothin would replace myspace?
Facebook wasn’t much different just faster and few extra things than myspace better chat and posting.Essentially the same thing.

Just like facebook did to myspace just basically copy google and change add a few things maybe a search engine mixed with a chat or something.
maybe picture comes up on every result. Or video,But yer they probably wont get replaced but you never no , look at myspace, yahoo.

I still think that do to all the monetary power they have it will be quite impossible to be replaced by someone else but as you say…. you never know.
Hey, I know google has the best product around. That’s what makes it so irritating. With a near monopoly on search, they have altogether too much clout and impact. We are forced to play their game or perish.
But links as a measure of relevance and quality is dumb. In essence they are reacting to what other websites are doing and linking to rather than on what people want. They can now do whatever the wahoo they want to do as long as they deliver accurate search results.
And their self serving google plus would have no real value except for their strength in search.
Their computers are strong enough to classify websites by category, content and relational keyword phrases. So why bother with links?
PS – I agree with what everyone says. Especially the part about investing in a better system.
Yahoo and Myspace have lost their dominance and so can google.

I think there has to be in the future somewhere i mean in the business world what product or business has complete dominance? there is apple and microsoft
iphone and samsung. every industry there is not just 1 dominant player.Infact isn’t having a monopoly in a market not allowed? isn’t that what happend to bill gates I wonder why googles getting away with it?

The government forced ATT to split up into mini Ma bells (of course now one of the minis took on the name again so there is still an att). But there is no one in gov. that can ‘take them on’ even if they wanted to. There is nothing for that person to gain – except notoriety and a lifetime of grief.
The only way to beat google is to do better than them. But no one except a government (USA China) has enough money to build the infrastructure and invest in the talent.
google is not full of ****, they are not perfect and they are showing it to us now.

Yep, we all have to play by their rules if we want them to play with us and serve up our sites to users. To do that we try to mold our website ass-ets to their liking.
But I don’t have to like it!

But that’s one of the big reasons I like this casino affiliate business – no boss telling me what to do and how to do it. I can figuratively ‘flip ’em off’.
At least when I whine and cry about google they are too big and indifferent to care or notice!!
