I have done this on and off and I think I can pitch in with some of my findings. I always find it productive working from home as I get the entire day’s work done in a few hours. However if you are involved in projects where you need one to one interactions with the team every now and then, virtual interactions can’t replace that.
A Lot 
depends on how disciplined you are and your objectives. Like Dom pointed out it is always better to have a separate work area at home. This saves you from over working and also helps you focus on the work at hand and finish it asap.
Having a list of things to do when u start the week or day also helps.
And yes, playing poker :nono: while working is a big distraction and you can’t do justice to either the work or the game. However a beer goes well with work
