I had the opposite problem until I finally got a whole room as just the office.
When I worked on a desk in the livingroom, work would never go away and I would work all the time.
Now I step in the office about 6am or so and I close the door the final time at about 7pm – still a darn long workday but I step out during the day here and there and smell the roses.
I find once I get going at an idea I want to see it taken to the finish. It’s fun to watch it grow and I get absorbed in gathering up all I need for it. I enjoy my work. I take pride in it. The last thing I need is a boss interrupting me and distracting me and telling me things to do.
I have been selfemployed all my life and that’s not going to change.
