I was in Melbourne over the weekend and as the plane was coming in for landing on Friday afternoon I looked out the window and the sun was like a red ball of fire in the sky. There was a blanket of smoke over the horizon with just the sun coming through and under the sun it looked like the earth was on fire.
Sunday walking through the city there were smoke gusts and it was a bit smelly in the afternoon, but apart from that I didn’t really notice much while I was on the ground.
A friend of mine had told me he was taking photos of houses at the end of his street that had burnt down when the fires just started, and I havent heard from him since. I’m sure he is ok, but it is a little worrying.
