why is it when the algos reach a certain level of distinction on the possible results do they not rotate the results so that everybody who is legitimately worthy of holding top position … get a chance.
If they did that, it would be admitting that there is no single perfect/best search result and of course the reason to use google/yahoo/etc. is to get the best results.
A perfect example was how google was rankiing an anti semetic/neo nazi website for “jew”. When people complained, google said “they can’t filter search results, an alogrithm …. blah, blah blah”. Yep google can’t remove offensive sites from results, but if you’re a site cloaking or if you have too many links to or from bad site, affiliate links etc. you can be banned/filtered for that.
So BB1, if they ever let people think that a variety of results were a good thing, it would have the effect of saying that there is more than one way to return search results. Google needs to be “unique”, distinct, etc. to make sure their stock starts going back up.
