You might want to try spyware doctor which is free from google. It has worked well for me. Spybot and ad-aware are also useful tools. You can also manually delete cookies easily. I don’t understand why a business would engage in these kinds of practices. It has always been my policy to not do business with and organization that uses such sleazy tactics–and I let them know it. Last year I had a problem with the infamous winantiviruspro malware. It cost me a lot of time and money. Had to have my hard drive cleaned and lost a lot of valuable work time. I would like to tell everyone on these forums that if you ever get a popup ad from any antivirus or spyware program your only defense is to disconnect from the internet immediately! A lot of these programs do what is called a ‘drive by install’. That means no matter what action you take to get rid of the ad such as clicking cancel or x in the dialog box the program will install itself regardless of your wishes.
