I received the wire today, and the amount was exactly what they said I would receive. Thanks, BCP!
Aksana, my payment was in USD. Perhaps when converting from USD to Euros, the bank takes a portion of the money as a fee, or perhaps they use an incorrect conversion rate.
A similar thing happens to me when I receive wire payments from a certain WagerWorks-powered casino based in the UK. They initiate the wire in GBP, and they pay all wire fees. However, when I receive the payment in my U.S. account, the amount received is roughly $50 less than it should be.
Example — say I am owed exactly £750. If you go to Google and type in “convert 750 GBP to USD,” it shows that £750.00 = $1,468.95. But when the wire hits my account, I only get around $1,415. I have no idea where the money went.
My bank shows all incoming wire fees on the statement, and this missing $53 is not accounted for anywhere. Perhaps the bank deliberately uses an outdated conversion rate that gives them a financial advantage. Or maybe there is an intermediate bank that converts the wire to USD and takes a fee, and I never know about it.
Anyway, good luck figuring it out!
