I wonder how good the chances of passage would be if this takes the same route as UIGEA? As a rider on another more important bill that everyone votes for?
I don’t think a repeal has to be viewed as being pro-gambling. There are so many other ways to spin it. Unenforceable law, too big a burden on the banking industry, cleaning up unethical practices of the Republican congress that just got ousted, prohibition creates dangerous situations for addicts, whereas regulation provides a safety net. You could go on and on. So many ways to make this look good, even to right wingers. ;]
It would have it’s best shot if it could be attached as a rider, not to mention poetic justice.
