Bottom line is, as our friend Mr Frist put it, is that online gambling is illegal in the US. Always has been.
If you have portals etc based in the US and you are registered for business in the US there are provisions in the law to treat you as an ‘illegal betting house’. Even if your sites are hosted offshore if you are registered in the US the grey area is fast becoming a black area and you have to make a choice whether to pack in or go underground.
If you want to go underground find non-US hosts and end your visible gambling businesses in the US because they will come after you eventually. It is too late now – they have opted for prohibition over regulation and it will be many years before any tries to change that. There is no money in it for the government and it just won’t be a vote winner, bible bashers far outnumber poker players.
If you want to keep your site and focus on non-US players move it abroad if it isn’t there already and don’t declare that you have anything to do with it business wise – it will have to be black market. You’ll need to go offshore or find someone willing to run the financial/business side of it offshore for you.
If anyone’s interested I can help with that. Am also looking at some very interesting alternative ideas for funding for US players. The last probition made some people very rich indeed…
