It’s summer, some laws pass unnoticed, this is what I read in my newspaper this morning:
In Belgium, sportsbetting tickets can not be bought anymore in the local stores, only ‘accredited’ sport bookies are allowed to sell.
What is the ‘accreditation‘ than? Well, the bookies will have to pay a warranty (this may be the wrong word for it)to the state so the state can pay the gamblers if the bookie turns out to be a scam/insolvent.
Gamblers who place bets in not accredited sportsbookies face fines up to 25 000 euros! (Nothing is said about affiliates)
This was NOT in the news yesterday, and is a 200 word article today in the newspaper… e-gambling is definitely not a big (enough) issue yet here!
