I have posted a topic on dos or Ddos attacks on routers. It is the router that gets attacked first in most instances. This attack I explained did infact happen to Yahoo at one time. The server got pinged at such a rate yahoo it shut down.

I agree its not a simple feet to set up your own server takes a little know how. I do not use a firewall the only firewall I use is a Manipulation of Linux. I fried my mother board a few times and have several spares. It takes two miniutes to change and I am up and running again.

I know instantly if there are problems because my system has set parameters to disengage, basically a intrusion detect system. The benefits are nuts! I am trying desperatley not to give too much away here. But for ISP question you can assign your own, you can change it when you want.

Your own server allows you to install programs for example, apache, php, my sql and many other programs. Allows for applications do be done faster and beleive or not website downtime is almost non existant. What about file transfers? these are done in a blink of a eye. Just image how you could adjust your email. Increasing your page load time no problem. Many other advantages a well which you would have to figure out on your own.

Far as major search engines liking this I would consider contradictory. Is not our websites hosted by some server. Why can’t it be yours SE’s takes it to be the same thing. The only difference is the webhosting company just makes money off you.

For Power outages from where I come from they Guarantee for a price there would not be any. I if there is I am compensated for it.

So whats up with an IP address. The Internet protocol say 151.32.12.14 the periods are called dotted quad. From a simple IP address one can determine many things, one being Country, host and some other stuff I don’t care to mention.

My server currently is used for other projects. I bought it about Five years ago for $5000.00 add ons another $3000.00. But bare in mind an old used P.C could work perfectly fine as an server. Server’s range in price from $500.00 to who knows.

Yes there is a learning curve, I would begin by reading the whole book of the internet. Go back in time and find out what happenned in 1965 and go from there. It won’t take long. But I promise you will be amazed. Please excuse my spelling and often confusing posts I mostly type in a different lanquage.
