well regardless of the stakes, be they nl, pl or fixed; if you’re sitting down at at table where there’s only yourself, and one other person playing 8 or 9 seats; YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE.
I don’t see any way around it.
as for how bad things are? I have either been on a losing streak or else something is going wrong; and I haven’t changed my play; if anything I’ve become even more conservative; which seldom is a bad thing.
for example; a couple of weeks ago I cashed out $2k at party, and this week I’ve not even managed to break even.
Its too the point I have begun playing other places (at lower limits since most other places don’t have the higher stakes to which I have become accustomed), and that in itself says a lot in my book simply because I know what I am capable of; and I’m also realistic about my expectations, yet still with all that said; I have been given such strong reason to play elsewhere that its really a no-brainer.
Some people will say that I should expect to lose more at higher stakes games but that really has not been my experience whatsoever. In most cases I have encountered; there were actually more quality players at say a sit&go single table tourney of $20 buy in ; than in the $100 buy in category. IMHO.
