I’m running XP with Service Pack 2, and I don’t have any problems viewing source code. Occasionally I will come across a site where I’m not able to view the source, but I can usually get around that by opening the page in a new window (hold down Control and press the letter N). Then in the new window, view the source.
Also, it may not be XP that is causing the problem — it could be your browser. Try a different browser (e.g. Mozilla Firefox or Opera). Or try clearing all the temp files.
If those ideas don’t work, save the webpage to your hard drive, then go in and open the html file with notepad to view the source. (Right click on the file, Open With… Notepad.)
One way or another, you can get around these little inconveniences.
