Okay, so you want to know who the crooked affiliates are? Is any program welcome to present this information? Will they also be required to present proof? Will that conflict with “confidentiality”?What if it’s presented that “you” have done something a program considers “wrong”? What recourse do you have to clear your name? What criteria will there be before an affiliate is considered a “rogue”?
Of course, we’d all like to know who the bad apples are, and we’d like them punished accordingly. But what is simple in theory, gets very sticky in the execution.
Greg already knows this, which is why he brought it here.
We’re already displaying very strong emotions on this subject, and what has been accomplished? How much further are we toward a solution?
The bottom line is that each program will have to deal with this on a case by case basis.
Appearances can be deceiving. Say my husband and I have a joint checking/Neteller accounts. We share the affiliate income. So we split up. Then I have to get everything separate, including affiliate tags. Say someone else gets a new tag, new Neteller, new bank account. It looks the same from the outside, but is it a situation to be governed by the same rules?
You see how making blanket determinations for everyone is not the answer. You can’t point fingers at a group, and be right. If even one person is hurt unfairly by this, the GPWA has failed in its mission.
We are not a police organization. You link with whomever you want, and drop the ones you don’t want. You don’t know everyone personally you link with anyway. For all you know, you’re linking with a serial killer or a child molester who may be a very good link partner. But you don’t want to link with someone who has a duplicate affiliate account.
We have to keep this in perspective, and not jump on the bandwagon as it comes riding down the road.
As for affiliate programs and their communicating, or not. Greg himself moved from Alkemize to Wager Junction. Will he never again speak to his former co-workers. What about John or Connie? or any number of others we know of who have moved from one program to another? I’m not given to believing everything I am told. Money is money, and people have been known to lie and even worse to get it, or to keep it.
I’m not accusing anyone of anything. Indeed, my point is to not accuse people without careful thought and means to do right by those whose names may be put before the public as “felons” of a sort.
