“I rather have something memorable”
I agree, but the domain still has some value… even if it may be $250.
Also, remember that the owner doesn’t need to brand this particular domain. An argument could be made that the name is better for a portal type site, rather than an actual casino… some type of site that wants visitors only once, and then they go to someplace with a cool name like starluck. “Best use” may not be the most obvious use. This one could actually be kind of fun to test and play around with.
An argument could even be made that the domain could be used to create the hub of a themed network. With a lot of anchor text with the words “online casino” pointing at it, it could make itself an authoritative site on online casinos, and then link to a small network of actual casinos, which would benefit from its authority vote. It would not even need to rank well itself in this case. I’m not saying that is its best use either, but suppose you had a site like wizardofodds on it. The site would have highly focused anchor text, which would make its theme obvious, but would also score for its academic-like authority, and it could transfer both sorts of points to its brandable partner sites.
