InactiveCAP London sucks, cos it’s london during winter …. i live in EAstern Europe, so i like to go to nice warm places to have fun.
CAP Cyprus, well i don’t like Cyprus.
CAP Barcelona was the most important event in the calender of many affiliates, i hope CAP will change mind about Barcelona.

Inactiveits not of being mugged….
but about to be allowed to play poker or not
perhaps?September 29, 2008 at 12:07 am #780092Anonymous
InactiveYes I would assume that CAP barcelona might not happen in the future because the police busted the poker tournament and seized equipment (chips, tables, a blackjack table from exhibitor booth).
I don’t recall any other conference were affiliates/manager were mugged. Once an affliate had his stuff stolen while passed out on the street in Amsterdam, which didn’t involve an attack. Given the number of people mugged and pickpocketed the last two times, i wouldn’t want to come out to late night parties here again.
The city is nice, great in the day, expensive all the time, but a bit scary down by the sea late night.

DanmanMemberHeard of at least 10 people being mugged, the ASOP being shut down, but I believe EiG is set to be in Copenhagen next year so CAP may choose to follow that or look at somewhere else altogether… personally I’d suggest keeping it in Spain, though perhaps Madrid or even somewhere on the Costa Del Sol – Puerto Banus would be decent as we’d save money on hotel fees!

InactiveI think safety should be a primary concern. I know several people that have been mugged or were attempted to be mugged over here. From what I heard it was over 20 on the first night, and probably way more throughout the week.
The cops here are a joke and really don’t care. They would rather bust up a poker game than try and crack down on some of the real problems in the city.
I love Spain and Mallorca is one of my favorite places, but give the tourist dollars to a Country that deserves it and that cares about tourists and actually tries to clean up their streets.

InactiveI spoke to Alex and he has some plans. I’m sure he’ll inform people once they are back

Asaf ShachafMembersomeone also had thier laptop stolen while having a meeting in the hotel lobby. I also heard someone was forced to go to a cash machine and draw out money with a knife being held to them, I live in Spain and have never heard of this amount of crime to one group of people. The event was amazing, but the muggings and thefts ruined alot of people perceptions. I second Tom and say puerta banus way is a great destination

betsafecasinoMemberI’ve enjoyed the conference and the hospitality of Barcelona very much and i wasn’t mugged. On the one hand it’s great, but on the other, it made me thinking that maybe i looked so broke that muggers new that I’m not worth while. And that hearts. Before i came to Barcelona i went and got my self a great suit, shiny leather shoes and an expensive watch. Just because they where rented by the day, doesn’t mean I’m not mug worthy. Who the hell these Spanish muggers think they are, avoiding me ? I’m going to press a complaint about that to the WMA (world muggers association) and insist receiving some kind of compensation for that.

ravanMemberI didn’t personally see or hear of any muggings or other problems. (Apart from the hotel bar where the staff kept on mugging me of £8 for a pint of lager…)
I did see a shady looking character hanging around the hotel lobby – but then I realised it was just Simmo!
The city at night was beautiful but crazy manic – I think they have a law there that every citizen has to take to the city-centre streets on a Saturday night…!
I don’t understand why all these events are all held in big cities where everything is twice as expensive as the rest of the country – why not go somewhere cheaper & spend some of the money saved on even bigger & better after-parties! :drunk2:
I hope CAP might one day consider somewhere like the Czech Republic, but not Prague – there are loads of other big towns which are much more economical & mugger-free!

HA HA – Simmo is as dodgy as the football team he supports

InactiveWell i just assumed that Simmo and the others at the bar were sitting there 24 hrs a day to keep the chairs from being stolen.
good seeing everyone again.

InactiveStories a plenty regards to muggings and attempted muggings this year…way more than last year as far as I recall.
Reading through this thread I was also going to suggest Banus as a destination for CAP Euro, its a great place with a lot of hotels and bars and shopping all very local. The marina there holds some pretty snazzy yachts too, kinda like mine…:sarcasm:
Or maybe we could have it in Kentucky?
All in all though, the closest I was to being scared throught the trip was when I was at dinner with Hodgeyboy. Luckily he decided to spend most of his evening like this… :flush:
How are the guts Tone? :roflmao:

InactiveCopenhagen sounds like fun in this time of year. I would be quite happy with Copenhagen.
All the above suggestions are great for CAP spring break….
