30-40 link request per day, that is only a sign that your website is successful :)

I get a handful a day. I once replied to a couple but never heard anything back. Wonder what they’re up to? Really pointless.

    I get them too.

Maybe it’s a way of verifying webmaster emails for a big list they plan on creating for a specific purpose?

I haven’t replied to any of them, I too think they may just be some email verification process.

I received a bunch of them as well, but they seem to have stopped lately.

ditto, and I have found it far easier to hit the delete button and forget ’em then to wonder whats up…lol I had offer for paid links and they wanted my payment information…..but they failed to tell me how much they were going to pay….:roflmao: at that point I assumed it was phishing?

Some are legit but i think they are using an automated script to send email to sites rankning for certain phrases.

maybe it does a quick whois and grabs email and sends…

i replied to one and got reply but my price was too high for link sale haha so they offered link exchange…

I replied too but was careful with my wording. I think it might be a big script that wants to get you to say you sell links and then narc you out, to thin the fields (just to get everyone paranoid) – and also, I’m paranoid. Interesting they only have been targeting my not so nice sites…. :3eyes:

yeah been getting them here too. I always delete LR emails anyway – everyone always wants to give you less than you give them :D

Add me to the list also…. got flooded with those emails for a few days, but it seems that they have stopped… never replied to any of them, because, as Dom indicated, the sender and signer never matched….

I can imagine that if you except these kinds of links for money then there is a slight chance you will get caught and your site may get penalized. I highly doubt they are from Google however.

Google punishes sites that break their TOS, they do not go around trying to make people break them and then punish them. That would be completely backwards.

I would just ignore them no matter what you think however.

    This is very old thread but here is few scenarios what is happening;

1.) There is a ‘hire a link exchange expert’ thing going on on the net – you can hire so called SEO expert (usually from India/Bangladesh/Pakistan or similar) that will spam webmasters 24/7 trying to get some links for your site for couple of $$$. However those mails usually have at least one or 2 links so you can take a look at the site in question – I never reply or answer those emails. If you reply at least once, it is most likely that you will have another 100 mails in your inbox instantly with same message but different sites/names.

2.) Then some mails don’t have any links but offer you whatever deal and always say ‘reply if you are interested’. Those are just harvesting emails and later on send you no deposit casino cra* offers

The best thing to do is to ignore those mails, just delete them. If they are persistent, just bounce back the email and your mail address will be showed in their system/inbox as invalid.

Regarding our Indian friends, said websites they list in those emails are almost always completely useless and only exist to put outgoing links there. 30-40 per page is usually the norm.

Just tell them not to email you again and they will not. At least that worked for me.

In 2009 we sold a few links to raise money for a homeless man , the buyers has sites 3-8 years old and considered authority sites.Too bad we could not do it this year as we realised it was for a good cause but we ran a risk we would not take.We do not even do link exchanges now.
