compiitMemberWow sounds like an amazing trip, and on a couple of your ventures you aren’t too far from me!!!! I have a swimming pool in the back yard, however not as exciting as the big apple or captains!!
I hope you and your family have a fantastic time..As for me, well I would say that just coming back from Vegas was my vacation, even though I spent the majority of it working and doing wonderful things during the Gaming Life Expo, and the WSOP opening days it was still an adventure to say the least. I got the opportunity to meet some professional poker players, see some amazing sites and party with some great friends!! It was a wonderful week and I cant wait to go to Vegas again!!

PokerWinMemberWish I could take a trip over to Vegas, just a bit of a long flight. So taking a completely different approach, instead of neon lights and long nights and bars and poker tables in Vegas, I will take my refugee to a cabin in the northern part of Sweden, no cell phone reception and no Internet to talk about.
Just a lake, some fishing and a beach. Hopefully the mosquitoes will be nice to me.

vladcizsolMemberHeinrick that sounds great, with the possible exception of the mosquitos.
Ok Guys I am leaving in 10 minutes for holiday.

vladcizsolMemberWe are in Atlanta and had a great day at Six Flags yesterday. The kids loved it and I enjoyed seeing Six Flags again. It was very hot, but there was plenty of shady places to take a break in.
Today its raining pretty hard so we waiting for that to clear and then we go back to the park…

Inactivelol cute smilie Dom. I was at six flags a few weeks ago and they gave us free passes for 5 more days good until the end of the season just for buying a pass that day. I don’t do the rides as much as I did when I was a kid but the place is still cool. Have fun with the family Professor and stay cool

vladcizsolMemberWe have the big six passes as well. We enjoyed the park a lot so I am sure we will be back again soon.
We are in Myrtle Beach now and its overcast, but thats ok as it keeps temperatures down. At 2:00 we are going to local version of Cirque de Sol.
Tonight we plan on hitting one of the areas mega seafood buffets. Its nice to unwind a little.

PokerWinMemberMyrtle Beach, they have a pretty decent golf course nearby there, or am I completely disoriented?
vague memory of our car getting hit by a golfball there and this bloke came up with his fancy golf car blaming his wife

vladcizsolMemberYes, Myrtle Beach is known for its golf and there are over 100 courses here. I am hoping to learn to play this fall, right now I am too dangerous to the other golfers on the course so I just putt and drive the cart and hand out beers.
Guys if you come to Myrtle Beach with your famioly be sure to check out Broadway on the Beach its a huge activity oriented outdoor mall, everyone will have a ball.
I also highly recommend Le Grand Cirque it was a great show and we all loved it.
Tonight its Dixie Stampede.
Tomorrow we begin the Trek to see the Captain and Captainette.

compiitMemberThat sounds like an amazing time!! So tell me was loading up the family as bad as some might think it would have been? Or has it really given you all time to bond and spend together? LOL. I am thinking about doing something with my kids next year, and trying to decide if a big road trip is the way to go or something shorter and smaller.. LOL

vladcizsolMemberToday we are here in Virigina and visiting the Captain. The trip here yesterday was a little bit of an adventure. We had to go over some mountains outside Asheville and on the way down our brakes started to act up. Whenever you hit the brake pedal the steering wheel would shake. By the time we were half way down the vibration was pronounced and you could feel the whole van shudder when you used the brakes! This is not fun on a mountain with 7 people on board and probably a quarter ton of luggage. We punched in Honda Dealerships in the Nav system and found one 20 miles ahead of us. We went there and waited for three and a half hours as they turned the rotors on our brakes and checked out everything else. Happily that did it and when we left the van was back to normal.
Today I am not sure whats on the agenda, but I know tonight me and the Captain will be drinking Rum and Coke and passing the evening on his front porch. I will keep you guys posted on our further adventures.
Michelle its been much better then I thought possible. Generally when you get six females together with one male and confine them to a single vehicle for 7 to 10 hour stretchs the male ends up getting berated for at least two of those hours. So far, at the first sign of trouble, I throw on my Bose noise cancelling headphones and they turn their attentions elsewhere as its no fun beating me up when I cant hear.
Bose is a lifesaver!July 19, 2008 at 3:39 am #773177
compiitMemberHa great idea professor!! I am glad the trip is going so splendid for you and your family, this will be something they will likely never forget!!
*waves to the captain and his family* enjoy your time!! Keep us posted, I love hearing about the family adventures.
I have decided though that i will wait a while for a long road trip, I think my kids need to get a little bigger first!!
