Betsafe added a clause to clarify the fact that they added a ‘Minimum Player Rule’ to their Terms and Conditions:
Updated wrote:6.14 Your Betsafe affiliate account must have a minimum of 5 active referred Customers before you will be eligible for Referral Commission payment. Please note that the sole purpose of this rule is to protect us against arbitrage players taking advantage of our program. Honest affiliates that indeed owns a website and affiliates that gets all or part of their commission from Casino/Poker revenue, should not consider this rule as part of the TC.Not quite sure what to make of this change…. I believe they are trying to ensure that affiliates are not going to be governed by the rule. So, this is an attempt at being affiliate-friendly. I am not quite sure what ‘arbitrage players’ have to do with an affiliate, though, since affiliates just bring players and (in most cases) don’t even know who those players are.
Regardless, a discussion should ensue on whether this is workable or not. In my opinion, it needs much more clarification to NOT be predatory.

April 20, 2008 at 6:46 am #766106AnonymousGuest5 players is pretty high number.
I never consider a quota … aff friendly.
and i never consider something that is in the terms .. not being in the terms.
come on.
They could just as easily state in their terms … abitrage players will not be paid any aff income
as the only meaning I can take from their meaning by that … is they are trying to keep players from signing up as an aff in order to get a kickback on their own play.
and after writing that out …..man that seems weak.
I’d tread careful with any place that has terms which are not aff friendly and not trust what some rep from the program is saying (no offense to the reps) … but what ISN’T in the writing is just as important as what IS in the writing.
In this case the terms when held to the letter can be used against the aff … whether the intention at this time is meant that way or not, things change. …. why set yourself up for that?
April 23, 2008 at 10:54 am #766360EkamudrjMemberHi Everybody,
First of all, thank you for your inputs regarding this. It’s always good to get different opinions.
We have decided to remove this minimum player rule and add another rule to the termination clause just as kwblue suggested.
This is the rule we added to the termination clause:
“We reserve the right to protect us against sportsbetting players taking advantage of our program. These players, often referred to as ”arbitrage” players, uses the affiliate program to their advantage by referring them self in order to get 30% commission from their own losses in the sportsbook. If we find evidence of such conduct, the agreement will be terminated with immediate effect.”
Once again I want to thank all of you for your inputs. As some of you comprehended this rule as predatory it was a no-brainer to remove it.
We are there for the affiliates just as much as the affiliates are there for us. And the same goes of course for the T/C’s.
If you have any comments please let me know.
Regards,
Rudi

April 23, 2008 at 6:47 pm #766415AnonymousInactiveMuch better, thanks!!
April 23, 2008 at 11:39 pm #766427AnonymousInactiveThe term has, indeed came in as expected The term now reads that this term applys only to ‘advantage affiliates’ who participate in arbitrage against the affiliate program.
Essentially, if you try to rip off the affiliate program – they will not pay you your earnings.
Thank you for the update and the clarification
