InactiveHi Lostgringo,
Welcome to CAP! And welcome to The Phillipines! LOL
I really enjoyed reading your post. I think you’ve got a great idea to create the website and promote what you have a passion for, poker. By the way, you have a very nice domain name.

I think that move of yours takes a lot of courage, especially at 63. I don’t think you sound crazy, just adventurous. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
I wish you much success in your new venture, and hope to see you around often here at CAP.
Best of luck to you…

jessyhalmMemberThanks for your positive comments Daera. I once lived in a box in Canada for most of my life. Box meaning I lots of ideas but never had the gumption to go through with them. I just dragged my sorry butt to work each day and collected my pay check. Once on a disability, I began traveling all through the USA buying breweryana and collectibles, and selling them on ebay. The market dried up. The “finds” got harder and harder to find. It got harder and harder to turn a decent profit. Add to that the cost of shipping and gas.
I started traveling internationally a few years ago and like living the life of a semi nomad. I don’t think I will ever live in Canada again for any length of time. My next stop after leaving the Phills is Thailand.
I know I am heading in the right direction here in the Philippines if I can stay focused. Lots of distractions here :drunk2::drunk2:

InactiveWelcome lostgringo, we’re all pretty crazy around here, so you’ll fit right in. I spent a year in the Phillipines working at a land based casino about ten years ago. It was a fantastic experience and the people were the friendliest around. I was really impressed by the level of education and we always had a huge talent pool to choose from when it came time to hire staff.
Well, enjoy your new adventure and i wish you all the best for this exciting industry.

InactiveWelcome to the forum – Sounds like you are living the life I hope to live at 63 (a little way off at the moment.)
The Philipines is a great place to base yourself out of in fact there are a few online gambling companies out there already – It may well be worth getting some local guys to help set you up some Asian language sites as well as a lot of people believe that is where the majority of money will be coming from in the not so distant future.
Oh and don’t forget to subscribe to CAP Magazine – It is free of charge and packed with useful articles – If you fill out your address in the control panal (look to the top left of this page you will start getting issues) PM me your postal address and I will send you the back issues that we have left.
Good luck

I’m at that age and can’t remember what day it is. Went to the mail box on Sunday and couldn’t figure out why there was no mail.
Welcome lostgringo. That San Miguel will give you a nasty head in the morning and at 10 cents a bottle I had one every morning.

InactiveNice read

lostgringo, i think you are crazy, NOT!

Worst thing that could happen is it doesnt work but i think that being out 1.5 years ahead of the sudden drop in your pension is good timing and planning.
Most if not all of us would agree that it takes time to see the impact of your hard work. Especially SEO
1.5 years will give you enough time to start ranking and converting!
However, be careful with SEO, just because some charge and claim to be good does not mean they are! I have seen so much bogus SEO GURUS claiming they have great rankings that it is not funny!
Best of luck to you and welcome to CAP!

jessyhalmMemberThanks for the big welcome. I feel that I am amongst good company.
Titus at least you found the mail box. Have you went somewhere and then stopped to think…’what am I doing here.” That’s when you have to worry, and hey I do that allot lol. San Miguel for 10 cents. Where can you get it for that? It cost around $140 in most bars here but I guess you could buy it in the store for 50 cents. I buy San Miguel draft in a bar I go to for 40 pesos or about 85 cents US. I buy 5 and I get one free which works out to 70 cents a beer. In Colombia the beer was around a $60cents in most bars. Anyway, when it’s this cheap you don’t worry about the cost anymore like I did in Canada where it costs around $5 for 1 beer.
alexpratt I am “too” familiar with the casinos here. I was in the 1st televised Satelite (sp), Holdem Poker tour just a few weeks ago. There are no online casinos here in the Philippines as I know it. The laws have just changed recently however. I know one guy who is setting up an online casino here, but it isn’t like your regular online casino. Apparently, you can only gamble online through certain the Hyatt associated casinos here in the Philippines. If it flies I think it will become a full blown online casino.
Alexpratt I don’t really have a postal code here in the Phils and I would guess it would take both allot of money and time to get the mags here. I will check out on line and I will subscribe. Thanks.
Thanks everyone for the welcome and positive reinforcement.

InactiveI’m actually living in Cebu, Philippines right now. I’m originally from
the U.S. and I tend to spend 3-6 months in the Philippines every year.Actually, the Philippines is one of the few online gaming jurisdictions in Asia.
The government issues licenses to online casinos through First Cagayan,
and most of these online casinos directly focus on the asian market.First Cagayan
http://www.firstcagayan.comAlso, if you’ve ever played at a Playtech casino.. you’ll notice that the
live dealers are filipinas and the live casino studio is within Manila.I’m very well traveled in the Philippines, especially through out Luzon, Samar,
Leyte, & Cebu. So, if you have any questions, etc.. feel free to send me a PM here at CAP.February 20, 2008 at 3:08 pm #761355

It was 10 cent a bottle in 1968. I went through jungle training with 5th SF near Clark AB before I went to the real jungle.

I lived in Clark AB for a year in 1997. The Americans had been gone about 6 years and the Casino i worked in was the old Officers club i believe. They turned the whole base into a resort style duty free zone. It was still quite eerie living there at the time as a lot of the old houses were in ruin and covered in volcanic ash from Pinatubo.

InactiveAndre that was interesting. As I remember the O club was not that big. I think the NCO club was bigger. I can’t imagine what the ash did to it. When I was there I looked at that volcano and wondered if it would come to life. I never had lived where you wake up in the morning and look at a volcano. Went thru my first and only earth quake there. Thought I was drunk, the ground won’t stop moving.
