InactiveIn all seriousness guys – I need to find out what this is. For all I know this could be gathering all my usernames / passwords or email accounts or spamming via Outlook.

InactiveThanks Kotico. I am currently running both AVG and Symantec, so would hope to have caught it with one of the 2, but I can certainly try yet another.

InactiveSometimes if I move my mouse over a video ad, the ad starts to play. I’ll have music going, and all of a sudden I hear talking and other noise clashing with my music. At first I didn’t know what it was, but after it happened a few times, I figured it out. I don’t remember exactly where this happens, though. It happens on a pretty big site, like MSNBC or Yahoo or something.

InactiveYeah, I’ve definitely seen/heard that before.
This sound byte happens at random about twice per hour
I really have no idea where it comes from but the voice sounds a lot like George Bush and that is enough for me to want to remove it.December 13, 2007 at 9:34 pm #756438Anonymous
InactiveHey mate
I have experienced similar things and realised that it was actually a banner with smiley faces on it… If i remember correctly myspace has these banners sometimes…
Basically the smiley faces on the banners start talking.. it freaked me out…
Not sure if thats the case with yours, but if I find another one of those banners I’ll post the url here.Ill do some searching too to see if I can find anything related for you.

InactiveThe smileys are a Zango front (adware) or it’s one of their main distributors and they advertise on major CPM networks like Casale. CPX Interactive has even started private label distribution of Zango. Affiliates/Distributors get $0.40 per install. To read what kind of crappy application/operation Zango is go to http://www.benedelman.org/.

InactiveAs a side note (just happened again)… I only had 1 web browser open (Firefox) and had 0 web pages with ads on them. 5 Tabs were stats from my websites (all using a custom stats program, so no ads there). Another tab with CAP.
so – I don’t think this is an ad situation (which is why I brought it up originially)

InactiveI knew that George Bush hasn’t been taking the intrusion of privacy all that seriously but turning up on people’s PCs asking them about their Christmas presents is going too far
If you can’t figure it out a good PC security forum is bleeping computer.

InactiveAre you running AIM by any chance? I think this happened to me when I had AIM going a little while back.

InactiveI’ve actually had this happen too, but after I closed my browser. The message wasn’t the same and I don’t remember what is said but it surprised me. I turned the computer off and rebooted and it was a few days before it happened again. Weird. I run AVG scans every morning and nothing has shown up. I use IE but have Firefox too.

supervinceMemberIt sounds more like adware than a virus. I would download spyware doctor or a similar spyware program and run it. Also check your toolbars in Firefox. Spyware doctor should pick it up for ya.
